Add this site to your home screen

This site can sit on your phone's home screen like any other app. It gets its own icon, opens full screen with no address bar, and the pages you've already visited keep working with no internet at all.

Nothing is installed from an app store, nothing asks for your details, and no account is involved. It takes about fifteen seconds. Pick your phone below.

Android

These steps are for Chrome, which is the default browser on almost every Android phone. Samsung Internet and Firefox are covered further down.

1. Open Chrome and go to dashrathkunwar.in.
2. Tap the three dots in the top-right corner of the screen. A menu slides in.
3. Tap Add to Home screen. On newer versions of Chrome this reads Add to Home screen under a Install app heading — either one is correct.
4. A box appears with the name Dashrath Kunwar already filled in. You can change that name if you want; it's the label that will sit under the icon.
5. Tap Add.
6. Android may show a second confirmation reading Add to Home screen or Install. Tap it.
7. Close Chrome. The icon is now on your home screen. Tap it once to check it opens full screen, with no address bar at the top.

If you don't see Add to Home screen in the menu, scroll the menu down — on smaller screens it sits below the fold.

Samsung Internet

1. Go to dashrathkunwar.in.
2. Tap the three horizontal lines at the bottom-right.
3. Tap Add page to.
4. Tap Home screen.
5. Tap Add.

Firefox on Android

1. Go to dashrathkunwar.in.
2. Tap the three dots to the right of the address bar.
3. Tap Add to Home screen.
4. Tap Add, then Add automatically.

iPhone and iPad

On iPhone this only works in Safari. Apple does not allow Chrome, Firefox or any other iPhone browser to add things to the home screen. If you normally use Chrome, open Safari just for these steps — you can go back to Chrome afterwards.

1. Open Safari and go to dashrathkunwar.in.
2. Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen. It is a square with an arrow pointing up out of it. On an iPad it sits at the top-right instead.
3. A panel slides up. Scroll it down past the row of apps — the option you want is in the list below them.
4. Tap Add to Home Screen.
5. The name Dashrath Kunwar is already filled in. Change it if you like.
6. Tap Add at the top-right.
7. Safari closes and the icon appears on your home screen. Tap it once to check it opens full screen.

If you cannot find Add to Home Screen in that list, tap Edit Actions at the very bottom of the panel and switch it on. iOS sometimes hides it.

Removing it

It comes off exactly like an app. Press and hold the icon, then choose Remove on iPhone or Uninstall on Android. Nothing is left behind on your phone.

What you get

• Pages you have already opened keep working with no signal — on a plane, on the underground, anywhere.
